Manitou - Corporate Challenge

Three intense sports. One glorious finish line. Endless opportunity to build a culture of health and a heightened sense of team within your organization. From fitness beginners to pro athletes, competing in a triathlon tops many people's athletic goals. The Corporate Challenge, sponsored by OptumHealth Performance, gives your company the chance to help your employees realize their triathlon goals and achieve this monumental fitness milestone together with their co-workers.

OptumHealth Performance is sponsoring two unique Corporate Challenges this year. The Manitou Triathlon, held in June, has been a 'must-do' for local athletes since 1990. It's relatively easy White Bear Lake course is often chosen by rookie athletes as their first race. It's also a favorite of elite athletes seeking to improve their times. The brand new TwinCities Triathlon, taking place in July, is sure to be the most exciting tri in the Midwest. Athletes get to swim, bike and run in and around the Mighty Mississippi while enjoying the picturesque St. Paul skyline.

What You Get for Taking Part in the Corporate Challenge

  1. Team Building. Triathlons are an unforgettable experience. They're also a great time for people to bond and work together during both the event and training beforehand. Participating in the Corporate Challenge can help you build loyalty and increase the team spirit within your organization.
  2. Culture of Health. We all know that healthier employees are happier, more productive and more likely to avoid major health complications. Getting behind the Corporate Challenge an excellent opportunity for your company to show it's dedication to bringing better health to the workplace — and potentially even lower health care expenses down the road.
  3. Awards. Achievement and team pride go hand-in-hand. Our awards aren't limited to only the fastest and fittest employees — those with the highest participation are winners, too. When you take part in the Corporate Challenge, your organization could earn the:
    1. Largest Corporate Representation Award. Finish times have no bearing for this award. Simply stated, if you register the most employees, you win.
    2. Fastest Company Award. Some friendly competition can help encourage others to step up their game. This award will go to the company with the highest "fast five" time (an average of the finish times of its five top individuals). If your company needs help educating employees on how to improve performance, we offer corporate training programs, too.
  4. Visibility. Building company pride starts with being bold and highly visible. We stand behind helping you build loyalty and engagement at our events. Depending on the number of registered employees, you'll receive certain benefits:
    1. Register 16-31 athletes, and get a designated transition rack.
    2. Register 32-47 athletes, and receive two designated transition racks and a large, custom feather flag designed with your logo and colors.
    3. Register 48 or more athletes, and get three designated transition racks, two large, custom feather flags and ground decals designed with your logo and colors.

We hope you'll help your employees make their fitness goals a reality this year by taking part in the Corporate Challenge. If you have any questions, please contact Kris Swarthout.

  • "Hey Coach Kris- Great news, I set another PR in the pool for the 500 today. 6:14! That's a full 10 seconds off of my recent PR, and 8 seconds off of my adult PR. Thanks for the great technique analysis & coaching!! Thanks OHP!!" -Pete
  • Kris, I really enjoyed working with you, and I appreciate all the information and advice you gave me. I was in the pool tonight doing the drills you listed. The workout was lot harder...and a lot more fun...than I thought it would be. You were right: it's gonna change my life. -Denae
  • Tim, I'm swimming faster than ever before. That last clinic really helped me. Today and I swam my fasted mile ever by over a minute. ...For me this is was really something. Thanks -Tom
  • Jeremy, I attend your Wednesday night workouts at OptumHealth Performance. I have to say I have never felt better in the Spring - I have better leg strength than I have ever had and once my top end speed/quick recovery come around look out!! Thanks for all the guidance over the winter - from my perspective it was perfect! -Brandon
  • OHP did a great job out there!! Clearly one of the (if not "THE") most professionally run events I've ever been a part of in my 10 years of triathlon. (including WTC)!! Coach Kris Swarthout, my helmet is off to you!! I want more OHP Tri's! -Pete
  • We had an awesome speed work session at the Lakes with OHP coaches Brendan and Beka. They had me running sub 6 min. 800 repeats which I didn't know I could do. These guys do a great job (and Coach Ben too). Hey, it's a lot easier to let someone else worry about the workout plan and the stopwatch and just show up and run :). -Eric
